Cabinet on stand

Walnut veneering and walnut burr on pine and oak, England, William & Mary style, XVII century.

This double-door cabinet comprises several drawers and compartments, including two secret drawers. It sits on a table with three drawers and a pull-out shelf.

The cabinet is typical of 17th-century furniture. It is an evolution of the sideboard, a solid-wood carpentry cabinet, and is one of the first examples of cabinet-making, a technique using veneer in particular.
