Vargueño

Walnut, Spain, renaissance style, XVI century.

The Vargueño desk is a typical Spanish piece of furniture that was hugely successful at the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century.
The chest of this cabinet, of a rare sobriety for Spain during this period, possesses a series of drawers and doors. The central niche, decorated with a cross, conceals a secret compartment. The base dates from the XIX century.
